  • Moonlight Tours start at dusk and paddle to the Dead River to watch the moon rise.

Register

We will launch our kayaks about an hour before sunset, then paddle through the Dead River Marsh as the birds settle in for the night. We'll pause to watch the sky and water turn colors after sunset, and listen to the sounds of the night as the full moon rises behind us. We switch on our headlamps and paddle back to the launch ramp in the moonlight.

Please arrive at the park at 3:45 PM. When you arrive, there is a $5 park entrance fee per car.

Guides: Linda, Dave

You will walk a few steps in mid-calf deep water to enter and exit your kayak. Please wear shoes that can get wet, and pant legs that can roll up or get wet. Expect the temperature to drop about 5 - 10 degrees before we get off the water, so we suggest long sleeves and a wind breaker or jacket will help you stay comfortable. Some guests find it helpful to bring a towel to drape across their legs during the tour and then dry off their feet for the ride home.

If you have any questions about the tour, or cannot make the tour, send an email to (FriendsofLGSP@gmail.com).  If you call the park about the tour they will ask you to go to the FLGSP website and send an email.
